Canisius-Air Force Preview

Senior Jacques Lamoureux owns the Air Force record for game-winning goals with 15.

The Griffs are in line for a long road-trip and a tough challenge when they travel to Colorado to face Air Force.

Two wins could vault Canisius to third place in the Atlantic Hockey standings depending on how Robert Morris fares against Niagara. It will be a tough battle against the Falcons, who are currently fourth in Atlantic Hockey who are ranked second in the AHA for goals per game and power play percentage.

Air Force is led by senior Jacques Lamoureux who leads the team with 23 points in 23 games and in power play goals with five. Junior Paul Weisgarber leads the team in goals with eleven. Freshman goaltender Jason Torf has gotten the bulk of the starts for the Falcons and has a 7-6-2 record.

The two teams have met only 13 times in history and have played tight as the 5-5-3 series record indicates. The teams also tied for a 1-1 draw in November, when freshman Patrick Sullivan tied the game in the third period.

The Canisius power play has been a lethal weapon in the new calendar year, clicking at a 31 percent rate (9-29), with senior Cory Conacher and freshman Ben Danford leading the way. Vince Scarsella has also awoken from his slump with six points in three games after being held pointless for five straight games.

The games on Friday and Saturday are scheduled for a 9:05 pm puck drop.
